Continuing professional development and renewal
A CBA credential is valid for three years and is renewed against evidenced continuing professional development.
The requirement
A CBA credential describes current competence and is valid for three years from the date of award. The expiry date is printed on the certificate and shown in the public register from the day of issue.
Renewal requires sixty hours of continuing professional development across the cycle, evidenced and reviewed by CBA.
How renewal works
Earn 60 CPD hours across the cycle
Twenty hours a year of relevant professional development: structured training, formal study, conferences and webinars, workplace projects that extended your practice, teaching and mentoring. You log activities as you go; we ask for evidence on a sample basis.
Submit your CPD record
Before your expiry date, submit the hours you have logged. CBA reviews the record, then charges the renewal fee shown on your certification page. A renewal with a complete record is processed within five working days.
Your register entry rolls forward three years
The register shows the new expiry date. The credential ID stays the same.
Start a renewal
Send your credential ID, the CPD hours you are claiming, what each activity was, and how it relates to the domains of the discipline. A list of dates and titles is enough; certificates of attendance are not required.
CBA checks the record against the blueprint and asks for more detail where it is needed. The register shows the new expiry date on the day the renewal is processed.
If a credential lapses
The register keeps the record and marks it Expired. Nothing is deleted, and the designation may not be used until the credential is renewed.
Within twelve months of expiry a credential may be renewed on the ordinary terms by completing the outstanding CPD hours. After that, the route back to a current credential is the examination, against the discipline as it then stands. CBA writes to every holder before expiry.
